The operator claims to be the first UK holiday provider to take clients to Egypt since restrictions were lifted.
It had originally announced a programme to Egypt in June 2020 to take off in winter 2020, but Covid meant the launch was delayed. EasyJet as an airline has previously flown to both Red Sea destinations.
The first customers arrived at Sharm el Sheikh airport on Friday, where temperatures in the resort reached more than 30C. The first clients holidaying in Hurghada land today.
Dean Thomas, easyJet holidays’ head of customer operations, was at Sharm el Sheikh airport to greet arrivals.
He said: “We announced our Egypt holidays a long time ago and we’re really excited to be here greeting our first customers and sending them off on their well-earned breaks. We’ve had a fantastic response already from the customers we met and we’re seeing and hearing the excitement of others who are travelling this week.
“Egypt holidays have something for everyone, from luxury to family to adults-only, so we’re really excited to bring many more people out here for some winter sun this season.
“And we’d like to say a huge thank you to our team and partners on the ground in Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada who are helping us create fantastic holiday experiences.”
