A new Edinburgh-based travel business has become the latest member of Hays Travel Independence Group.
Surgeons Quarter Travel is a new venture from existing hospitality business Surgeons Quarter in Edinburgh’s Old Town, which already runs a hotel, four conference venues and a cafe.
The new travel agency will initially focus on providing travel for surgeons carrying out work for the Royal College of Surgeons but it may start selling travel to the public “in the future”.
Scott Mitchell, managing director of Surgeons Quarter, said: “We are delighted to be working with the Hays Travel Independence Group on our newest venture.
“This is an excellent opportunity for us not only to grow as a commercial company, but to assist our parent organisation – the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh – with more streamlined, cost-effective travel.”
The new travel business will be managed by current employee Justin MacKenzie, who previously worked as guest relations manager at Ten Hill Place Hotel in Edinburgh.
“Surgeons Quarter Travel is a very exciting opportunity for everyone involved,” he said. “Having worked in the travel industry for a number of years prior to Surgeons Quarter, it feels great to be returning to my roots.
“Setting up a new travel business has been a lot of work, but the Hays Travel Independence Group have been fully supportive, and I’m confident we’ll go on to achieve great things.”
