Among those whose terms on the board are nearing their end are MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys managing director UK and Ireland, Antonio Paradiso, A-Rosa River Cruises managing director Lucia Rowe, and Advantage Travel Partnership director of strategy Lee Ainsworth.
ITT, the Institute of Travel and Tourism, is also looking to fill a vacant position on the board from the hotel sector. Membership spans the cruise, domestic, travel agent, tour operator, tourist board, transportation, and education and training sectors, and also includes six generalists.
In addition, two co-opted board members – Jet2holidays general manager trade Lloyd Cross and easyJet holidays senior strategy manager Louie Davis – may seek election, or a new-look board could co-opt them for another term.
Nominations must be received no later than 11 April. Directors serve two-year terms, with half the board elected each year.
Besides Paradiso (cruise), Rowe (tour operator) and Ainsworth (travel agent), those whose terms are coming to an end include former Abta head of membership Danny Waine (domestic tourism), Just a Drop founder Fiona Jeffery OBE (general), C&M Travel Recruitment co-owner Barbara Kolosinska (general), HR professional Claire Steiner (general) and CW Sports Travel founder Charles Wilson (general).
Sophie Nelson (HX), Peter Robinson (Leeds Beckett University), Angela Day, Steve Endacott, Donna Allcock (Tourism Ireland), Teresa Arnone (Tui Group), Julie Murphy (All Nippon Airways), Dan Pearce (TTG) and Bruce Martin (Travel Gossip) all have another year left to run on their terms.
