Six organisations, including The Travel Foundation and Tourism Cares, form the coalition, with an aim of bringing together the industry to overcome sustainability barriers.
A meeting in Athens on 29 September, with online coverage, will bring together destinations, communities and the industry.
The event will focus on how destinations can play a part in accomplishing the Glasgow Declaration for Climate Action in Tourism goals.
Among those attending will be Hugh Felton, Abta’s sustainable tourism manager, Nadine Pinto, The Travel Corporation sustainability manager and Janie Neumann, sustainable tourism manager, Visit Scotland.
Coalition chair Jeremy Sampson said: “We look forward to bringing local stakeholders together alongside other global leaders and experts as we explore how travel and tourism can move closer to a future that has the needs of communities and the environment at its heart."
