The Berlin-based airline has aircraft stationed at Gatwick operating mainly to Greece for operators including Sunvil. It has signed a deal to buy 25 new Airbus A320s, which should more than double its current fleet of 15.
Germania is one of a handful of independent European airlines offering flights to UK operators that are unable to obtain seats on UK charter airlines.
The Farnborough Air Show also saw Iceland’s budget airline Wow air order four short-haul aircraft. Its fleet of 11 will grow to 17 by the end of next year. Wow air now operates 30 routes across Europe and North America.
