TTG’s annual event, which celebrates diversity in travel, is taking place on 5 July on a rooftop in central London. It will also include the announcement of the latest Travel Pride Champions, honouring those who are promoting diversity and inclusion in their businesses or within travel.
Commenting on the decision to headline partner Travel Pride, Dan Rios, director of LGBTQ+ Marketing at Greater Miami & Miami Beach said: “We understand the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion. Having the opportunity to align with a partner like TTG who understands and embraces these concepts, in one of our most important international markets, led to us pursuing this partnership.”
He added that South Florida, which is home to one of the largest LGBTQ+ communities in the country, is “one of the most diverse regions in the US”.
“Our diversity and intersection of people and cultures is part of the fabric that defines Greater Miami & Miami Beach – we celebrate all our people including our LGBTQ+ community and our visitors.”

Rios said Greater Miami & Miami Beach annually welcomes 1.8 million overnight visitors that self-identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community.
“Additionally, we welcome 900,000 day-trippers,” he added. “At 2.7 million visitors and an estimated financial impact of $1.2 billion, the LGBTQ+ market is very significant to our destination.”
Elsewhere, Rios said Miami had found itself at “the forefront in the struggle for equality several times in history”.
“In 1972, Miami Beach played host to the first organised gay pride week which happened along Lincoln Road. The event began to protest the city’s anti-cross-dressing law and resulted in a federal judge striking down the measure. The same year, Miami Beach hosted the Democratic National Conventions, where, for the first time in history, gay rights were discussed on a national platform. Move forward to 2015, marriage equality in the State of Florida was passed in a Miami-Dade County courthouse, ahead of the US Supreme Court ruling.
“The work that the travel industry is doing in equality deserves to be celebrated,” Rios added. “Join TTG and Greater Miami & Miami Beach as we recognize leaders in this space whose work are moving the industry forward.”
This year’s Travel Pride, in association with Greater Miami & Miami Beach, will take place on 5 July from 6.30pm at The Deck, 20 St Dunstan’s Hill, London EC3R 8HL.
The winning Travel Pride Champions will also be announced at the event.
Attendees are invited to dress in summer Miami style (think floral shirts and bright colours!) as we celebrate diversity in travel in style.
TTG Media’s Travel Pride is free to attend but places are limited.
