The GNTO joins Avis Budget Group, G Touring, Hurtigruten, Iberostar and Intrepid as a sector champion for the 2023 initiative, which was originally launched in 2022 to inspire travel agents to sell more sustainable travel and educate them on how to do so.
“Greece fits perfectly as a destination partner for TTG Sustainable Travel Heroes because of our efforts to share sustainable holidays with the tourism industry and future travellers,” said Eleni Skarveli, director for the UK and Ireland at the GNTO.
One of the project’s three sustainability-focused fam trips taking place in 2023 will visit Crete. The trip is being run in partnership with Avis and Intrepid.
“We recently launched sustainablegreece.co.uk to highlight and promote the sustainable initiatives and experiences in Greece, aiming to encourage British travellers but also travel agents to be engaged in our sustainable journey. Being part of TTG Sustainable Travel Heroes will complement this initiative and inform agents about all the possibilities customers have when they visit Greece,” added Skarveli.
TTG Sustainable Travel Heroes is entering a new phase in 2023 after a successful launch in 2022, this year seeking 20 agents to become Sustainable Travel Ambassadors. Anyone interested in applying should do so by midnight on 31 March.
