Seven in 10 respondents (70%) to Jet2’s latest weekly confidence survey said they felt confident about booking new holidays, and travelling. This compares to a low of three in 10 (30%) in January 2021.
Now, just one in 10 respondents (10%) said they don’t feel confident about travelling, a figure that reached as high as five in 10 (50%) in January 2021.
This 60 percentage point gap today between those who are confident to travel and those that aren’t is the highest it has been since the start of the pandemic.
Jet2 said this confidence was translating into renewed travel demand ahead of Easter and summer, particularly for Greece, Turkey, mainland Spain, the Canaries, the Balearics, Malta and Portugal.
Independent agents are currently able to offer £50pp off all Jet2holidays.
"It is two years since the onset of the pandemic and international travel is looking like it did before everything changed," said Heapy, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays chief executive.
Heapy continued: "This return to normality has had an enormous impact on customer confidence with holidaymakers jumping at the chance to get away.
"We have always said that things should return to the ‘old normal’ when the time was right, rather than trying to maintain a ‘new normal’ and it is great to see that this has happened.
"We are approaching the time of year when our operation ramps up significantly, and we are looking forward to an extremely busy and successful 2022."
