The brands came out on top after consumer champion Which? in September polled more than 8,000 customers about their holiday experiences between September 2019 and September 2022.
Respondents were asked to rate their providers on customer service, accommodation, description matching reality, organisation of holiday, holiday representative, transport to and from destination, and value for money.
Both Jet2 and Kuoni received a customer score of 84%, earning them Which? recommended provider status.
Jet2 scored five stars across the board, save for in accommodation (four stars), while Kuoni too was rated five stars across six of the seven categories, losing a star on value grounds.
Trailfinders (82%), Inghams (81%), and Hays Travel and Virgin Holidays (both 80%), rounded out the top five. Tui scored 74%, losing ground to rivals primarily on customer service (three stars).
Tui said the "tiny survey" didn’t represent feedback from its guests "at all". EasyJet holidays scored 73%, and was also ranked three stars for customer service.
Jo Rhodes, deputy editor of Which? Travel, said after an "incredibly disruptive" period for travel, the survey highlighted the importance of good customer service. "With some respondents complaining that their providers were difficult to get hold of when things went wrong, Jet2holidays and Kuoni distinguished themselves by offering travellers support every step of the way."
Rhodes added Which?’s recommended beach and resort package holiday providers and retailers – Jet2, Kuoni, Trailfinders, Inghams and Hays Travel – had all committed to not levying surcharges "if confronted with rising costs", ensuring people who book with them "have peace of mind the price they are quoted is the price they will pay".
