The six lessons cover wellbeing hotspots, and also aim to help agents expand their Malta knowledge. Agents can access the new course through the Malta training website.
The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) was inspired to create the training resource following the toll Covid-19 took on mental health, as well as the ongoing rebound in international travel.
The aim of the course is to inform agents about the activities available in Malta that can improve physical, mental, spiritual, social, emotional and environmental wellness.
These include scuba diving, stand-up paddle boarding, taking in sunrise views, visiting spas, and exploring the island’s ancient culture, as well as its Chinese gardens.
To encourage participation, agents – upon completing an online quiz – will be entered into a draw to win one of five wellbeing goody bags, which include foodie treats, Maltese soap and a candle. They must take part before the end of March.
MTA trade trainer UK and Ireland, Peter Green, said Covid-19 had highlighted the importance of health and wellbeing – not just in day-to-day life, but while on holiday too.
“Malta is the ideal destination to create a sense of wellbeing,” he said. “We are excited for travel agents to expand their knowledge through our brand-new programme.”
In total, the training website has 11 courses, including programmes dedicated to LGBT+ travellers, under-30s, people taking city breaks and family holidaymakers.
