Mandarin Oriental is to open a property on Grand Cayman, its second hotel development in the Caribbean.
The hotel, scheduled to open in 2021, will be at St James Point on the island’s southern coast and feature 100 beachfront rooms plus 89 branded Residences at Mandarin Oriental. Mandarin Oriental will run the hotel under a management contract with US developers.
Confirmed features at the property, which will be 15 minutes from the airport, will include the signature Spa at Mandarin Oriental, several pools, tennis courts and beach club. On-site farming is designed to provide a farm to table experience at the hotel’s five restaurants. In total, the hotel, which will be branded Mandarin Oriental, Grand Cayman, will cover 67 acres and include walking and cycling trails.
The Cayman Islands believes the arrival of the Mandarin Oriental brand – and the radical design of the new property - will allow it to tap new markets.
James Riley, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group group chief executive said: “The owner has assembled a spectacular site and has the long-term vision to create a unique resort experience that, together with Mandarin Oriental’s renowned service, will ensure an exceptional offering in Grand Cayman.”
Mandarin already manages Pink Sands Club in The Grenadines, which will soon be rebranded.
