The change, which was made on Saturday (12 March), means fully jabbed visitors do not need to present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure.
However, they will still be required to take a Covid test on arrival.
In a statement, the FCDO said: "From 12 March 2022, travellers do not need to present a negative PCR test before flying to Mauritius.
"Health or travel insurance covering Covid-19 related expenses is mandatory. You will be asked to present proof of your health or travel insurance before boarding and on arrival. Covid-19 testing will be required on arrival."
Arvind Bundhun, director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, predicted a further boost to the island’s tourism numbers as demand for travel to the destination is "currently ramping up".
"We are delighted that the Ministry of Health and Wellness has reviewed the sanitary protocol for visitors to Mauritius," he added.
"Automatically this renders experience of travelling to Mauritius far easier and more streamlined."
