During the current economic uncertainty, 40% of customers surveyed for the study said booking through an agent was more reliable than booking direct.
Meanwhile, nearly half of the respondents (48%) said it was more secure, while 36% highlighted how you “don’t need to worry about a supplier going bust”.
A third said they were willing to pay more for expert advice and local insights from their travel agent.
Holidaymakers are also now turning to travel agents to ease their travel money worries.
The survey by payment solutions provider Equals Money found that nearly two-thirds of people (63%) expect their agent to offer advice on currency exchange rates.
Thanim Islam, head of FX analysis at Equals Money, which commissioned the research, said: “Understandably, during these uncertain times, travellers are worried about losing money on trips abroad and in response are turning to their travel agent for advice and expertise."
