Phillips – who joins the brand as maternity cover for Gemma Walker – brings a wealth of experience to the position with 29 years spent in travel, including 12 years running his own agency and account management for Sunhotels.
He also started the Geordie Ball in the 1990s and launched the GRAFTA travel awards in 2017.
He said: "I’m delighted to be joining the Newmarket Holidays team. Their achievements in retail have gone from strength to strength and I will continue the great work that has been done across the North."

The appointment comes as Newmarket Holidays looks to continue the expansion of its programme of escorted tours across the UK, Europe and for long haul destinations including Africa, India and the US and Americas.
