Escorted touring specialist Newmarket Holidays has resumed its North America programme for the first time since September 2020.
The move comes following the reopening of the Canadian and US borders. The operator has so far taken more than 70 customers to the destinations and plans to have taken more than 130 by the end of the year.
The first departures were three Canadian trips: Canadian Rockies, Canada’s Rocky Mountaineer and Canada - Niagara to the Rockies.
Customers were joined by senior long haul product manager Kathy Vigolo, who spent 14 days with the guests.
She said it was "an absolute delight" to accompany Newmarket’s first groups to Canada following the 18-month pause in operations.
"To see the pure joy on the customer’s faces, after putting their travel plans on hold, was wonderful," she added.
"So many of the customers found the experience really invigorating and were able to reconnect with each other and the world."
The company’s North American itineraries continue with trips to Hollywood, Vegas and the Grand Canyon, which departed last week, with two additional Deep South trips planned to take place in November.
