Cook’s Club introduces escape rooms, VR gaming and private discos

The first Cook’s Club hotel opened on Crete last month, picking up on “current trends” aimed firmly at the 18-35 market.

Cook says its new own-brand hotels will set “new standards” for entertainment in the hotel industry.

It has this week unveiled four new attractions: an escape room challenge, virtual reality gaming, a “rage room” where guests can let off steam and private disco for groups of up to 10.

The escape room phenomenon has exploded in recent years, bringing friends together to master tasks, puzzles and challenge to escape their surroundings in a given time.

Cook is offering three scenarios to start with: a horror skit based on Stephen King novel ES, a bomb disposal countdown challenge and puzzle room known just as The Box.

Its escape rooms are suitable for up to seven people and take around 50 minutes to complete. Prices start from €13.50pp.

Rage rooms (from €19.50pp) allow guests, fully clad in protective gear, to smash up objects like bottles and vases with a wide range of tools, including baseball bats, in a safe environment.

Meanwhile, guests can access three virtual reality zones (from €10pp for 30 minutes) either alone or in small groups and take on VR gaming hits such as Arizona Sunshine, Beat Saber or Superhot.

Finally, Cook’s Club offers private discos in small club rooms for up to 10 people, complete with disco ball, karaoke, video screen and extensive party playlist.

Rooms can be rented by the minute for up to three hours around the clock, topping out at €500 for a 10-person VIP package.

Cook unveiled its Cook’s Club concept in April, the first opening in Hersonissos on June 1 featuring 148 rooms.

The operator is hoping to operate 10 to 15 Cook’s Club hotels by summer 2019.
