Off Broadway founder and co-owner Tricia Conroy-Smith’s plea comes after Travel Designers owner Nicholas McKay decided to step back from day-to-day running of his agency after 25 years and transition towards retirement.
McKay said he chose to partner with Off Broadway Travel due to its strong values and customer service ethos, plus the freedom he has been afforded to keep working with his own private clients. “[Off Broadway Travel] has allowed me to secure the best offering for my clients and [the best] work-life balance for me,” he said.
Travel Designers made the TTG Top 50 Travel Agencies in both 2016 and 2017, before going on to be named Top Agency in London in 2018. In 2019, it retained its crown as Top Agency London, and was also named Top Weddings and Honeymoons Agency.
Conroy-Smith said the acquisition would ensure McKay’s customers continue to receive “the same level of knowledge, dedication and customer services they have received over the past 25 years from Travel Designers”.
She added the company’s brand, website and social media would remain the same, and stressed Off Broadway was open to taking on more agency brands.
“This is an exciting move and we look forward to welcoming others to the Off Broadway family in the future,” said Conroy-Smith, who invited anyone looking to hand over their businesses to come forward for a confidential discussion.
Off Broadway Travel has made the Top 50 in five of the past nine years the programme has run. It was named Top Agency South East in 2017 and also Top Agency UK and Ireland the same year.
It then went on to make the Top 50 in 2018, 2022 and 2023 as one of the three best agencies in the South East. In 2021, it was named Top Weddings and Honeymoons Agency. The agency has also been shortlisted several times in the TTG Luxury Travel Awards, including this year.
