Some passengers flying from Gatwick airport this morning have been told they will have to fly without their baggage.
“We currently have a problem with our baggage system and some flights are departing without bags,” an airport spokeswoman said, the Evening Standard reported.
The fault is with the conveyer belt system that sorts bags before they arrive at the aircraft so they are being processed manually.
An airport representative said they do not yet know how many passengers will be affected but both the North and South terminal have been hit by problems.
Incoming passengers will not be affected, they said.
