Wonderluxe filed to be wound up on late July after losing the investment of a silent partner in the business. Joint liquidators from Begbies Traynor were appointed on Thursday (8 August).

PTS has confirmed it will support all three affected homeworkers to fulfil all future bookings and ensure Wonderluxe clients are able to complete their holidays as originally booked.

Wonderluxe was launched by Sheena Sumner in 2019. “We got off to a great start and then Covid-19 hit,” Sumner told TTG in mid-2021.

However, Wonderluxe weathered the pandemic, and Sumner had plans to expand onto the high street and grow the business’s homeworking cohort through an independent affiliate scheme.

It went on to refresh its brand and website and launch a new customer magazine in 2022.

Emma Collis, PTS executive director, confirmed the company liquidated "due to the ill health of a silent partner who was an investor in the business".

"The liquidation of Wonderluxe is extremely sad and we wish Sheena the very best for her future," said Collis.

Collis continued: "Wonderluxe had three home workers all of whom have set up their own independent travel businesses and become PTS members, which is fantastic for both them and Protected Trust Services.

"The homeworkers, with the support of PTS, will assist with the fulfilment of all future bookings to ensure all clients of Wonderluxe are able to complete their Holidays as originally booked.

"We are extremely pleased there has been no disruption to Wonderluxe clients during this difficult time and we very much thank our supplier partners and the homeworkers for their hard work and patience while this situation is resolved for the benefit of Wonderluxe clients."

At a general meeting of the business on 26 July, it was resolved Wonderluxe would be wound up voluntarily, with Michael Jenkins and David Adam Broadbent of Begbies Traynor appointed joint liquidators.
