International LGBTQ+ travel trade event Proud Experiences has decided to postpone its planned show in November until June 2022, due to continuing Covid-19 travel restrictions.
The event, run by Reed Exhibitions, was due to be held in New York from 8-10 November 2021 but will now take place on 27-29 June 2022. The show, which first launched in the UK in 2018, is focused on a sector valued at more than $218 billion a year.
Simon Mayle, exhibition director of Proud Experiences, said: “We realise this announcement will come as a blow to the LGBTQ+ travel industry, as we too were looking forward to reconvening in NYC this year.
“However, we are an international show, with international attendees and as such we have no choice but to postpone our community get together until June 2022.”
“While this is obviously a huge disappointment for us all, as this year’s event was set to be the biggest gathering to date, and expected to welcome more than 300 participants, we remain committed to preparing for Proud Experiences 2022 when we hope it will be a more positive environment in which to meet again”.
