In its latest update on its masks policy, Royal Caribbean said that from 15 February face coverings would no longer be required at venues designated for vaccinated passengers only, including select bars, lounges, restaurants, shows and Casino Royale.
Masks will still be required in these venues for cruises departing up to 14 February.
Royal Caribbean will continue to require masks to be worn when passengers are indoors, unless seated and “actively” eating or drinking, as well as when visiting ports of call where they are required by local regulations. Children aged up to two are not required to wear a mask onboard.
The line tightened its face mask rules in December, due to the spread of the Omicron variant, and will now revert to the policy it had in place last summer.
Royal Caribbean added that it “not yet determined” its health and safety protocols for 2022 sailings from Europe, with guests being advised of requirements by email before departure.
NCL announced earlier this week that it would end its mask requirement on US sailings from 1 March.
The line will then only recommend mask wearing indoors and outdoors if social distancing cannot be maintained. Current rules will remain in place for European sailings.
