The first Stewart Travel store opened in Prestwick in 1972; the business now has 12 branches across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Back in 1972, a week’s all-inclusive cost around £50, Prestwick’s airshow hosted a Concorde prototype and Ceylon was renamed Sri Lanka.
Stewart’s Prestwick branch was named Scotland’s Top Agency at TTG Top 50 Travel Agencies 2019, and made the Top 50 shortlist in 2020 and 2021.
It was also voted Best Independent Travel Agency at the 2019 British Travel Awards, and Best High Street Travel Agency at the 2020 awards.
“We’re especially proud every branch has become a part of their community," added head of retail Linda Boyd, who said the agency’s 12 branches were "busier than ever".
Teams celebrated with cake and fizz at the weekend, and launched a competition giving one lucky client the chance to win a £5,000 holiday. Stewart is also offering £50 off all holidays booked by the end of June.
The prize draw was launched last week, with entries open until 31 August. Fifty runners-up will win a £100 holiday voucher bringing the total giveaway to £10,000. Vouchers can be used in full or part-payment for any holiday package.
Stewart’s branches are in Ayr, Belfast, Bishopbriggs, Edinburgh, Glasgow City, Glasgow Forge, Helensburgh, Inverurie, Irvine, Kilmarnock, Paisley, Prestwick and Troon.
