Agent campaign group Target will host a Twitterstorm at midday on Friday with chancellor Rishi Sunak and transport secretary Grant Shapps in the firing line. Sunak, in particular, has come in for criticism after rushing back from the US to meet with industry leaders from the hospitality sector, but not travel.
Abta has called for an urgent meeting with the chancellor to advocate for sector-specific support for travel, a call that has been widely backed throughout travel.
To take part in the Twitterstorm, simply tweet the text below at midday. You can attach an image too if you want, it won’t push you over the character count. We’ve included a #SaveTravel graphic at the foot of this story for anyone wishing to use it.
The travel industry has been forgotten by the government. Travel restrictions have decimated our businesses. 200,000 jobs already lost in travel and thousands to follow without urgent support. @rishisunak @grantshapps @ABTAMembers #savetravel #savefuturetravel
