Travel technology start-up Pluto has created a set of 10 commitments that aim to improve diversity and inclusion within the company and across the wider industry.
The company, which specialises in providing travel insurance, has published the pledge of 10 measures it is “working towards” to tackle racism, while also boosting diversity and inclusion.
The 10 measures include updating company values, turning diversity and inclusion into a business priority, setting diversity goals for hiring and interviewing potential employees, creating a culture with “zero tolerance” towards racism, and to “actively work” with companies supporting diversity and inclusion.
The pledges were created after Pluto looked at how it could support the Black Lives Matter and anti-racist movement.
Alex Rainey, Pluto’s chief executive and co-founder, hopes that other start-ups in the travel sector could use the 10 pledges as a basis to improve diversity and inclusion within their own businesses.
“Seeing as we’re just a drop in the ocean, we wanted to share this more widely in the hope that it’s useful for other start-ups,” said Rainey.
“We’re talking with Founders Factory and also SeedLegals to discuss how to promote this further within their start-up communities.”
