UK managing director Kirsten Hughes said last week had been the homeworking specialist’s second-highest trading week in the current financial year.
She added that new bookings were currently at 87% of the levels seen during the same period in 2019.
“We are already seeing a surge of bookings to long-haul destinations such as the US, Caribbean and the Maldives, as well as to shorter-haul destinations such as Spain and Greece, for winter and beyond,” said Hughes.
She also welcomed the removal of the final seven countries from the government’s red list as “extremely positive for the travel industry”.
“The announcement means that our customers can now travel more easily to the seven countries that remained on the red list, without the need to quarantine at a government-approved hotel, making travel to those countries much more affordable,” added Hughes.
“We’re delighted that we can now take our customers to even more exciting long-haul destinations, such as Peru and the Dominican Republic.”
She did, however, also sound a note of caution about the continuing “complexity” around international travel with different entry requirements for every country.
Hughes added this meant there was more need for the services of a “trusted travel advisor” to help consumers.
