The firm said on Wednesday (13 October) the volume of candidates being placed in new travel roles reached its highest point in 19 months, with levels now increasing for the last five months in a row.

However, volumes remain down compared to pre-pandemic days, with September 2021’s total down by 24% compared to the same month in 2019.
 
It was also said to be a strong month for new travel job vacancies, with September recording the second highest figure since February 2020. The companies reported that new travel jobs have now increased in 10 of the past 11 months.

However, September also saw a dip in new candidates, with the month’s total being 15% below the number recorded in August.
 
Barbara Kolosinska, director of C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment, said momentum is "truly back" in the travel jobs market.

"Placements are at a 19-month high, and new vacancies are at their second highest level since the pandemic began," she added.
 
"But despite the positive statistics regarding jobs, there was a fall in new jobseekers in September. Some candidates may potentially have been cautious about searching for a new job last month, fearing that the end of the furlough scheme could create an abundance of new candidates."
