The survey covers trading in the three months from April through to the end of June and is open to all retail travel agents – high street, homeworkers, online and call centre agents – in the UK and Ireland, regardless of size and scale.
Every participant is automatically entered into a prize draw to win one of three £100 high street shopping vouchers per quarter too.
Agents – take the Q2 survey now!
The Tracker debuted in April 2020, initially charting the devastating Covid downturn for agents. However, times have changed, and the trade has emerged strongly from the pandemic, reflected in the buoyant response to our Q1 survey this year.
For instance, did you know:
- Nearly 40% of agents’ Q1 customers were brand new to them;
- More than 70% of Tracker respondents said their clients spent more during Q1 2023 than they did during the same period last year;
- The single biggest issue for agents in Q1 was price increases, flagged by more than one in two respondents;
- Around 40% of agents said between a quarter and half their new sales and bookings during Q1 were for departures within the next 12 weeks; and
- Only half of respondents said they were happy with their level of pay, or the salary they can take
Topical issues explored in the Q2 survey include recruiting from outside travel, the long-term impact of Covid debts, and and the advent of AI – and its use by agents.
Meanwhile, your agent peers told us:
- ’Business is good – people are spending more, and the repeat business is there’
- ’Clients are still travelling, and we’re seeing last-minute bookings come in’
- ’Since Covid, it has become the norm for customers to amend their bookings at least twice, on average’
- ’It’s a challenge to match customers’ spending power against rising prices’
Every quarter, TTG produces an in-depth infographic report on the latest data – a handy, at-a-glance guide to how the trade is performing, which agents can use to benchmark their businesses against others in the same space.
In addition, each set of quarterly data is revealed exclusively at one of TTG’s Tracker Talk calls, to which Tracker respondents are invited as a priority to gain the latest insights and share their experiences with other agents. The next call will be held on Wednesday 19 July at 1pm.
The Tracker survey is open to all agents in the UK and Ireland, whether you work for an independent or multiple, and irrespective of what sort of agent you are or what kind of agency you work for or under.
