The Travel Network Group has called on its operator and supplier partners to “urgently review” their terms and push balance payments back to within one to two weeks of travel to encourage bookings and consumer confidence amid the coronavirus crisis.
Vim Vithaldas, TTNG chief commercial officer, said the move was “in everyone’s interest at this time to avoid cancellations and to increase the likelihood of customers continuing to travel”.
“We are requesting business partners reduce the time frame of their balance payments to one to two weeks prior to travel,” said Vithaldas.

“This will allow our members to give a more positive message to customers who have concerns at this time, and allow them to continue with their holiday plans.
“Some of our business partners have already shared updates in view of cancellation terms, which our commercial team has now made available to members.
“We are hoping many more will follow and help to support our members during these challenging times.”
TTNG has rolled out various additional supportive measures for members in recent weeks.
These include a dedicated helpline, legal webinars and “keep calm and carry on with your holiday” press release templates to share with local media and clients.
“We are constantly considering other initiatives to help support them,” Vithaldas added.
