Biden’s White House revealed in September that the US would reopen its borders to fully vaccinated arrivals from the UK and EU in early November. But officials did not give a firm date for the reopening at the time.
The US president is believed to be looking at 8 November as the date to reopen the transatlantic market, according to a report by The Telegraph. The border has been closed since early 2020 when the pandemic took hold.
UPDATE: US to reopen to fully vaccinated international visitors on 8 November, White House confirms
There has been speculation in recent weeks that the US could delay the reopening until the Thanksgiving holiday in late November.
But last week UK transport secretary Grant Shapps said he was “optimistic” that the US ban would be lifted early next month after receiving “reassurances” from US officials.
When the border reopens, UK visitors will be required to show proof of being fully vaccinated, as well as a negative test result taken three days before arrival.
