In the year since the US reopened its borders to international travellers, the country has seen hotel bookings by British travellers "soar", despite concerns over the strength of the pound against the dollar.
US hotel bookings made by Brits have increased by 382% over the last 12 months, while European hotel bookings by US travellers have increased by 111%.
Meanwhile, flight bookings from Europe to the US have increased by 67%, indicating a revived demand for long-haul travel following the pandemic. The average booking value of Europe-US flights has increased by 20% since October 2021.
Regarding routes from Europe to the US, New York was the top-performing destination, with flights from London, Paris, Milan, Madrid, and Barcelona ranked as the top five, and Manchester-New York as the sixth most popular route.
New York was the most popular city for British travellers, followed by Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando and Miami.
According to the data – compiled by Trip.com – more than a third of travellers booking flights from Europe to the US came from the UK (39%), followed by Spain, (17%), Italy (14%), France (12%) and Germany (11%).
