Visit Orlando praises agents following surge in UK visitors

Visit Orlando has hailed travel agents’ efforts following an 8% uptick in UK visitor numbers to the Floridian city last year.

While Canada remains Orlando’s top international source market, 877,000 people travelled to the self-styled theme park capital of the world from the UK – making it the destination’s second best-performing market ahead of Brazil, Mexico and Colombia.

Visit Orlando president and chief executive Casandra Matej said: “We saw strong gains from all of our core international markets, including the UK.

“Orlando’s international growth is a testament to the uniqueness of our unbelievably real destination, the support from our travel trade partners and our emphasis on strategic marketing initiatives to help drive visitation from our key markets.”

In 2025, Universal Epic Universe will debut with more than 50 attraction, entertainment, dining and shopping experiences.

Accommodation options – including Universal Stella Nova Resort and Universal Terra Luna Resort – are scheduled to open on 21 January 2025 and 25 February 2025, respectively.

They will follow the opening of several accommodation options including Evermore Orlando Resort, Conrad Orlando, Villatel Orlando Resort and Universal Orlando Resort this year.

Visit Orlando’s surge in visitors comes after Los Angeles reported a 24% jump in UK and Irish visitors last year. A total of 310,000 tourists visited the city as it continued its post-Covid recovery.

Ahead of the IPW trade show, Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board released data showing 49.1 million people visited the city in 2023.
