St Louis and London were last served by an American Airlines flight from Gatwick. BA’s service will operate to the Missouri city from Heathrow four times a week, starting from 19 April 2026.
The city is famous for its 630-feet high gateway arch and viewing platform, plus its historic Union Station, which is now a hotel and entertainment complex.
St Louis will be BA’s 27th US destination and comes as the region prepares to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Route 66 next year. It is hoped the new service will also be a gateway to Fifa World Cup games in Kansas City, which has no direct UK air link.
Flights will depart Heathrow on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 4.25pm, arriving at 7.30pm. They depart St Louis on the same days at 10pm, arriving 12.05pm the next day, with return fares from £529.
Neil Chernoff, BA’s chief planning and strategy officer, said: “St Louis is a fantastic addition to our US network – it’s a destination in itself as a city with a rich history and a vibrant cultural scene, as well as a gateway to exciting destinations beyond this.
"As the only direct route from the UK, this service will open up exciting new opportunities for our customers and further strengthen ties between the UK and the US Midwest.”
Adding St Louis to its network is further evidence of BA leaning on its joint venture partnership with American Airlines, which has allowed it to operate to secondary US destinations profitably.
