Strikes and demonstrations are due to take place across the country after a coalition of eight of the country’s biggest unions called for action over pension reforms, pay and conditions.
The FCDO warned: “Calls for strike action and demonstrations across France on Thursday 2 October may cause disruption to travel. Monitor local news and check for messaging from your travel provider about any potential delays.”
France’s Civil Aviation Authority said air traffic disruptions would be limited, although local media warn of likely delays. The FCDO advised: “Check your operator’s advice before travelling, including where you are taking connecting flights.”
Some rail travel disruption is expected, although France's TGV network is due to operate normally.
The dispute is separate to a long-running row with air traffic controllers over pay. ATC workers are due to begin a three-day walkout on 7 October, which is expected to cause significant disruption to European air travel.
