Flights are continuing at Bordeaux airport despite one major wildfire being just nine kilometres away from the south of the city, as emergency services battle blazes that have forced more than 360,000 evacuations across France and Spain.

Priority is currently being given to departing flights in coordination with local authorities

The airport confirmed on Sunday (26 July) that it remains "fully operational" and is supporting the region's emergency response, with priority currently being given to departing flights in coordination with local authorities.

Bus services also remain operational, while the city's tram service is running non-stop between Merignac Soleil and Bordeaux airport.

However, hotels in the immediate vicinity of the airport have been closed, with passengers advised to contact their accommodation providers outside evacuation zones. Airport terminals are also closed overnight, meaning overnight stays are unavailable on site.
