The UK’s largest independent travel agency opened the store at the Broad Walk shopping precinct. Local residents were invited to meet the six-strong team and take part in prize giveaways, including a £500 holiday voucher.
The new Hays Travel branch occupies the former site of The Body Shop. Ian Howes, Branch Manager of the Harlow shop, said the opening had been warmly received by the local community.
"Thank you to everyone who came along to our grand opening and made it such a memorable occasion," he said. "All of the team thoroughly enjoyed sharing advice and inspiration and we can’t wait to meet more of our new customers."
Jane Schumm, Retail Director at Hays Travel, said the proximity to Stansted made Harlow a strategic location for the agency’s latest opening.
"With London Stansted Airport just under 15 miles away, Harlow is the perfect location for our newest branch," she said, adding that the grand opening was a "huge success".
"I know our colleagues are looking forward to welcoming customers to the store to help them plan their dream holidays and arrange their travel money."
The opening forms part of Hays Travel’s continued investment in high street retail, with the brand opening a shop near Luton last year following Jet2holidays' decision to launch a new base – its 13th – at the airport.
