Lord Peter Snape, who served as the Labour MP for West Bromwich East from 1974 to 2001, became political advisor to the ITT in 2002 at the request of Chair Steven Freudmann, who described him as "simply irreplaceable".

"In the 24 years that followed, he became one of the best-known and best-loved ITT members," Freudmann told TTG on Friday (14 August).

"He hosted more than 100 events for us in the Houses of Parliament. To most members, he will be remembered for his wit and wonderful sense of humour."

However, Freudmann also noted Lord Snape's political acumen. "He had a very serious side, and at the 2016 ITT conference in Tel Aviv, he warned us all of the dangers of Brexit.

"He will be sadly missed by everyone at the institute. Peter is simply irreplaceable. All our thoughts are with his wife, Lynda, and his family."

Sarah Coombes, the current Labour MP for West Bromwich, was another to pay tribute. "Peter is still very well-loved in the area," she said.

"I’ve had more than a few conversations that went ‘Peter Snape? Best MP we ever had!’. He’ll be much missed."
