The group hopes its Swap the Sky initiative will mobilise trade bodies, travel agents and industry associations and help them promote flight-free alternatives for travel from the UK to Europe.
Travel by B Corp has produced a survey to identify the key operational, market and perceptual obstacles when selling these journeys
Once these barriers have been identified, Travel by B Corp plans to create a roadmap to eradicating them and has pledged to support the trade in promoting "a more responsible journey".
By way of example, Travel by B Corp highlights how taking a Eurostar to emits around four grams of CO2 per passenger kilometre compared with 154 grams per passenger kilometre when travelling by air on a short-haul flight.
The footprint of Eurostar is around 3% of a flight, according to UK-based non-profit organisation Our World in Data.
Travel by B Corp is urging industry partners to register their interest in participating in the Swap the Sky project as well as distributing the survey among their networks or members.
To register interest in participating, or to receive the survey once published, email jess.cochrane@lemongrassmarketing.com.
Travel by B Corp is a collective of 42 B Corp certified travel and tourism companies, "united by the belief that people- and planet-positive travel can be the norm".
