The city of Valencia is set to host four of these major events throughout next year, including becoming Spain’s basketball capital for the Copa del Rey tournament from 18-21 February.
The European Indoor Athletics Championships will also be arriving in Valencia in early spring (4-7 March), while SailGP returns for its second year to the city at the end of summer (4-5 September).
Annual favourite MotoGP Valencia Grand Prix rounds off the city’s impressive line up of events, taking place 26-28 November.
Elsewhere, Alicante is hosting the start of The Ocean Race for the sixth consecutive edition. Starting on 17 January, competitors will sail a 14,000-nautical-mile opening leg to Auckland, the longest opening leg in the event’s 53-year history.

Beyond sporting highlights, the city of Valencia will also draw in cultural travellers with two new openings. The Sorolla Museum, dedicated to celebrated Valencian artist Joaquin Sorolla, is set to open at the City Museum, while Espai Valdes will feature 30 previously unseen works by internationally renowned Valencian artist, Manolo Valdes.
Benidorm’s tourism infrastructure will also receive an upgrade, with four-star Poseidon Playas de Benidorm openings its doors for summer 2027, adding nearly 600 rooms to the city's hotel inventory.
The Benidorm beaches of Levante and Poniente are also at the centre of a £50 million transformation plan, now underway, bringing an upgrade the tourism hotspot's famed seafront.
“2027 promises to be an exciting year for the Region of Valencia, with major international sporting events giving visitors even more reasons to discover our destinations,” said Marian Cano, Regional Minister for Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism.
“Alongside sport, continued investment in culture, accommodation and tourism experiences means there will be something new to discover across the region.”
