The Derbyshire couple made their "challenging" enquiry in October and were sailing on Queen Mary 2 from Southampton to New York on the first leg of their journey later that month.
Bolsover Cruise Club Cruise Expert Abbie Wood was tasked with creating the once-in-a-lifetime itinerary.
She told TTG: "I'm quite confident. It was a challenge but I enjoyed it. It took me away from doing the normal round-trip Southampton sailings that I normally do. They are a bit repetitive. It was nice to have something to get my teeth into."
Despite the huge task in front of her, Wood reveals the itinerary "did not take as long as you would think" to build.
Wood said the couple didn't enjoy travelling through airports and the husband wanted to use the sailing to visit businesses that he set up in the US and the Caribbean.
"He wanted six-star cruising but he wanted all different ships so I had to sit down and see which ships were going where and link it all up," she explained.
"He will often do a cruise and stop for a day and do his work in the Caribbean. His wife is just at leisure and she will be relaxing while he is doing a bit of work."
Miami heartbreak
From New York, the couple travelled to Miami where they did two round-trip Miami voyages. The first Miami departure was to get to the Caribbean.
However once back in Miami after doing the second the round-trip departure the husband fell ill before the start of the journey to Auckland.
Wood had to jump into action and find a transatlantic sailing so the couple could return home. The couple sailed to Southampton from Port Canaveral on Sky Princess in the top Sky suite.
Wood confirmed the bespoke world cruise itinerary was the first booking she made for the couple but they have since returned and made a handful of simpler "open-jaw" cruise bookings.
"We've got quite a good relationship now," she added. "He's a really nice guy."
'I absolutely love cruise'
In addition to Queen Mary 2 and Sky Princess, the couple also sailed on Regent Seven Seas Splendor, Explora I and Cunard ship, Queen Elizabeth.
Wood is a self-confessed cruise addict and has already been on P&O Cruises' Arvia; Celebrity Apex; Ambassador Cruise Line's Ambience; and Virgin Voyages ship, Valiant Lady, this year.
She has also hosted a dinner on Oceania Cruises' Vista ship. "I absolutely love cruise. I do it for all my holidays," she said. "My next cruise is on Star Princess in the Caribbean in March.
"It's going to Belize and Roatan in Honduras. I like to go to ports I've not been to before. I've just been on Ambassador to Honfleur."
So was the bespoke world cruise Wood's most challenging booking to date? "No, I did a Disney Cruise Line booking for a big family from London and there were about 15 of them. They went on a Disney cruise and it was about £150,000 in the end," she said.
"It was tricky because of the number of people. Different people were sharing with different people on the cruise and the hotel in Universal Studios and then they wanted to add more people onto the booking so it was a very long process."
