Legacy is scheduled to enter service in early 2029, marking the second addition to the luxury travel brand’s fleet.

All residences onboard the refurbished ocean ship will be around 50% larger than comparable accommodations on Villa Vie Odyssey, which launched in 2024 as a lower-cost alternative to ultra-luxury residential yachts like The World.

Clients can expect expanded floor plans with more storage units, as well as an enhancement of wellness and dining facilities.

“When we launched Odyssey, we set out to prove that residential cruising wasn’t just possible – it was sustainable,” said Mike Petterson, founder of Villa Vie Residences and Avora Residences.

“Legacy is the natural evolution of everything we've learned from our residents and operations around the world.”

To remove the need for prospective residents to wait until 2029 to secure a place aboard Legacy, Villa Vie has introduced the "Legacy Bridge Program".

The initiative guarantees the right to transition to a “comparable” residence on Legacy, as well as providing participants with immediate residency aboard Villa Vie Odyssey. 

Odyssey maintenance rates will also be honoured on Legacy, despite projected maintenance costs for the new ship to rise by 30%.

The news comes just three months after Petterson spoke to TTG about the launch of Avora Residences’ ‘Continuum program.’ 

A place in this VIP club, which is bookable via agents, gives access to Avora Lumina’s private suites for up to 60 days a year. 

Membership also includes exclusive dining, a rotating roster of elite chefs and a dedicated health and wellness programme.
