Since taking up his role on 3 February, Perl has already paid Scylla’s European offices a visit as he looks to get to grips with the company, which leases ships to the likes of Riviera Travel and Tauck.
Perl, who left Riverside Luxury Cruises in late 2023, has been tasked with finding small-tour operators and groups to charter Scylla vessels within its 40-ship fleet.
“Scylla wants to attract international travellers to their ships," he told TTG. "It’s a new strategy for the company. I’m helping them lay the foundations and develop their international business."
The role is a first for Perl. “I’ve never worked with a ship owner before," he added. "I’ve always worked with ship owners acting as the tour operator."
The Swiss company added: “With nearly 20 years of experience in the river cruise industry and a deep passion for travel, Stuart will play a key role in driving our international growth, focusing on English-speaking markets.
“His dedicated, expertise and enthusiasm for this dynamic and evolving industry will be a tremendous asset to our team.”
