New analysis from McKinsey & Company reveals luxury cruise has tripled in a decade, yet is still only reaching fewer than 1% of global luxury travellers, presenting a ripe opportunity for the industry, and travel advisors.

Anna Nash believes luxury cruise has its best years ahead of it

Speaking onboard Explora Journeys’s newest ship Explora III, McKinsey & Company Milan’s Senior Partner Nicola Sandri revealed that luxury cruise passenger volumes have grown from around 400,000 in 2015 to 1.2 million last year, but added this represents fewer than 1% of the estimated 200 million luxury travellers globally. “The order of magnitude is unmistakable,” he said.

Speaking to a room of assembled trade partners, Explora Journeys President Anna Nash added these figures backed the MSC Group’s investment in its ultra-luxury ocean brand, with the line on target to represent a quarter of all ships at sea in the category.
