The company, which organises a range of private jet and other escorted trips around the world, has appointed Cait Gargett, who formerly worked for luxury travel trade show ILTM, to head up its UK and Europe operations.
Gargett exclusively told TTG Luxury about Captain’s Choice’s plans to attract more business in the UK.
“We have always done little bits of business in the UK but generally people don’t know who we are,” she explained.
Captain’s Choice, which was founded in Australia more than 30 years ago, currently runs around 30 escorted tours per year including six private jet trips.
As part of its efforts to attract UK luxury agents, Captain’s Choice will be attending TTG Luxury’s Luxpo event in London on 3 April.
“We’re looking to work with the trade who have clients with the right demographic,” explained Gargett. “We pay fair, competitive commission. We also offer price parity with direct bookings. We make it easy for agents by taking care of everything including visas and flights.”
Gargett said they were aiming for a “nice mix” of both direct and trade bookings as the operator ramps up its profile in the UK.
“All of our trips are hand curated and - although they are set group departures - they are almost like tailormade because we build in so many options,” explained Gargett.
She added that Captain’s Choice offered a “competitive price point” compared with operators of similar holidays in the UK, with its private jet holidays starting at £40,000 per person and other trips having an average price of £15,000pp.
“Our trips are remarkably easy-going and friendly – it’s all quite informal although we stay in the best places,” said Gargett. “Our clients tend to be 50-plus with an average age of 60, and we get a mixture of individuals and couples.”
She highlighted an 18-day private jet trip from London to Latin America and the Atlantic islands, departing in August 2026, as being potentially popular with British clients.
“We try to find a combination of destinations that you really can only do with a private jet,” added Gargett. “We also have a Cairo to Cape Town itinerary that you couldn’t do by yourself.”
Captain’s Choice charters different types of private jets for their itineraries, which range from 43 seats down to 11 seats.
Other types of tours including one itinerary which gives clients the chance to drive a range of supercars in Italy and a journey along Spain’s Camino de Santiago route.
The operator also focuses on offsetting the carbon emissions from each flight, with the aim of a “carbon-neutral experience”, while further actions include a partnership with Everclime to support conservation and climate change projects such as Forever Wild Narndee and the Indian Wind Project.
