Nobu opens hotel in London

Nobu Hotel London Portman Square is the 13th hotel for the brand, founded by Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper, and is a sister hotel to the property in Shoreditch.

Located on a prominent corner of Marylebone’s Portman Square, the hotel features a Nobu Restaurant and Nobu Bar with a year-round terrace, plus a fitness centre and wellness facilities, with a 600-person ballroom to follow in 2021.

“This is a hugely exciting day for the team and I, and we can’t wait to welcome our first guests into the hotel and restaurant,” said Grant Campbell, the hotel’s general manager.

“The support that we have had so far has been fantastic – with bookings for the restaurant far exceeding our expectations in the current climate. Despite the tremendously difficult challenges of the past year, we’re now looking forward to playing our part in the comeback of hospitality in London and beyond.”

The design of the hotel takes influence from Japanese architectural disciplines and minimalist design, with David Collins Studio responsible for the hotel’s public spaces, including the lobby, The Lounge, Nobu Bar and Restaurant, outdoor terrace, ballroom and boardrooms; rooms and suites are designed by Make Architects.

The hotel is owned and was developed by L+R Hotels, whose portfolio also includes Cliveden House, Chewton Glen, Hilton Park Lane and Fairmont Monte Carlo.

This is also the third collaboration between L+R Hotels and Nobu Hospitality, following the launches of Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay and Nobu Restaurant Monte Carlo.
