Founders Chris Sanderson and Martin Raymond kicked off the partnership with a session at the hotel called “The Futures Store: retail revolutions in our homes and minds”, which will be followed by other events held throughout the hotel as part of the year-long programme.

It will be available to hotel guests and non-residents alike, with the company’s trend forecasting team set to host a series of talks, installations, briefings, dinners and activities. The idea will also be to mine out future trends in luxury travel and hospitality by spending time at the hotel.

“Hotels are not just places of pampering, they are places where people have the luxury of time for contemplation,” said Raymond. “Who knows, maybe we will arrange for a philosopher to visit a guest in a room when they can’t sleep, or are bored. But what we will definitely be doing is defining luxury, how it’s changed and how it will change.”

Focusing on areas including health, wellness, technological innovation and Artificial Intelligence, the residency will raise questions such as how the hotel of the future will look, and what dinner ingredients will be available in 10 years’ time. The next event is a Health & Wellness breakfast briefing on July 12.

“The partnership is immensely exciting as it strengthens our position as a forward-thinking company,” said the hotel’s managing director Thomas Kochs. “I am convinced our guests will be thrilled with the exchanges and will appreciate this offering beyond traditional hotel services.”

Meanwhile, the hotel has also launched 11 new suites, the first product enhancement at the property since its opening seven years ago. Due to open in September is the first London restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge.
