The Times of India has reported the country is one of 31 countries being added to the scheme, as well as Spain, Tanzania and Argentina, bringing the total to 76.
The scheme is also being extended to a further seven airports at Jaipur, Amritsar, Gaya, Lucknow, Trichy, Varanasi and Amedabad, in addition to the nine already offering the service.
The additional airports were chosen due to the high number of foreign tourists that use them to enter the country.
Any move designed to ease the transit of UK holidaymakers is likely to be a good thing.
