The Advantage Travel Partnership has postponed its Barcelona cruise conference just a fortnight before it was due to be held.
In a statement, John Sullivan, head of commercial, said the consortium’s “unprecedented decision” to reschedule the event - slated to take place from November 14-16 - “wasn’t taken lightly”.
“However we firmly believe that as part of our Cruise Champions strategy, that it is our role to deliver to our members the best possible opportunities and value to ensure that they obtain the maximum benefit from their invested time, money and commitment,” he said.
Delegates had been scheduled to take an exclusive tour of MSC Cruises’ MSC Seaview during the conference, as well as attend business and network sessions.
The conference will now be held next March offering delegates an “enhanced opportunity” to see MSC’s upcoming ship Bellissima when the vessel launches in Southampton.
After spending the night onboard, Advantage members will disembark and regroup for day two of the conference, with more details of the event content to follow shortly.
“Whilst of course we won’t be alone on this [Bellissmia] sailing, we will experience exclusive Advantage member-only events whilst onboard, along with the full spectacular of an MSC ship launch, two unique events for the price of one,” said Sullivan.
Advantage is refunding delegates who have already booked Barcelona flights with members advised to contact its conference and events department on 020 7324 3945.
