The new system, which piloted on August 1 onboard business class flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle and St Martin, currently comprises four headsets onboard for more than 40 movies and TV series.
The programme has been created to allow guests to "enjoy films or series in their own private movie theatre in isolation from the rest of the cabin”.
The trial is being carried out in partnership with San Francisco-based startup, Skylights.
Air France said in a statement: "This will be a valuable learning experience for the company and confirms the importance of improving the customer experience with original and innovative solutions."
Following the test period, the new in-flight entertainment system "could be rolled out on other flights in the months ahead".
