The experience provider announced on Wednesday (31 May) it attended Pride the weekend before for the first time as a business alongside grassroots organisation Birmingham LGBTQIA+ and independent travel agent Val Thomas.
AWG social media and marketing executive said that attending the two-day celebration with colleagues was a “no-brainer” while national retail engagement manager Nicky Yates said the AWG stand was “very well received”.
Chief executive Olly Nicholls said AWG’s participation in Birmingham Pride was testament to the group’s focus on diversity and inclusion.
“We recognise that our diverse tapestry of talent fuels innovation, ignites creativity and ultimately propels us to thrive as a company,” said Nicholls. “We are forging a stronger, more resilient organisation by fostering an environment that values and respects our differences.”
Participating in Birmingham Pride is the latest of a series of initiatives AWG has launched to bolster a more diverse and inclusive workplace. Nicholls joined Women in Travel CIC’s male allyship network earlier this month while in early March the experience provider launched its first dedicated menopause policy.
- TTG will be hosting its own Pride celebration with our famous Travel Pride Party on Thursday 6 July at Colours Hoxton in London. Anyone interested in attending or finding out more should register here.
