According to data from The Advantage Travel Partnership, members have seen summer sales outperform recent years with bookings up 30% on 2022 and up by 83% compared with 2019 levels. Advantage said the higher than expected rises stem from resurgent demand and an increase in Scottish membership.
Top destinations for Scottish travellers this summer are Spain, Turkey and Greece, with holidaymakers booking longer stays of nine nights compared with the previous average of eight nights.
"There is undeniably huge appetite for travel this year and the boost in bookings suggests people are continuing to prioritise travel despite the cost of living crisis," explained Advantage chief executive Julia Lo Bue-Said.
However, Lo Bue-Said warned that travellers are looking to manage costs when it comes to booking holidays, made evident in the higher percentage of all-inclusive bookings members have reported.
"The increase in all-inclusive bookings is driven by a mix of motivations, as consumers are planning more and are increasingly risk-averse and cost conscious than they have been in recent years," she added.
"Younger travellers are also considering all-inclusive holidays to help with their budgets. Currently, 40% of all bookings are for all-inclusive compared with 26% back in 2019."
